Hepatitis B Profile

What is Hepatitis B Profile?

Hepatitis B Profile is a blood test performed to know if there is a Hepatitis B virus. The tests can also show if you had the infection in the past.

Why do you need to take this test?

Primarily to screen for and diagnose acute or chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, to detect a previous, resolved hepatitis B infection, or sometimes to guide and monitor treatment.

Sample Required?

A blood sample drawn from a vein in your arm (labtestonline).

Risks

There is very little chance of a problem from having a blood sample taken (healthlink).

  • You may get a small bruise at the site. You can lower the chance of bruising by keeping pressure on the site for several minutes.
  • In rare cases, the vein may become swollen after the blood sample is taken. You can use a warm compress several times a day to treat this effect.

Results
